What a Free Car Appraisal in Sarasota Actually Tells You

The Number You See Online Is Not the Whole Story

Most people selling a car in Sarasota do the same thing first. They punch the year, make, and model into an online tool and get a range. Maybe it says $12,000 to $15,000. And then they wonder: where does my car actually land in that range?

That is exactly what a real, in-person appraisal answers. And it is something I do for free.

I am Howard, and at HoHo Buys Cars I offer free vehicle appraisals to car owners in Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch. No strings attached. No obligation to sell. Just an honest look at your vehicle and a real number based on what I actually see.

What Online Tools Miss

Online valuation tools are useful starting points. I use them myself. But they work from the information you type in, which means they cannot account for what is really going on with your specific car.

They do not see the small door ding on the passenger side. They do not know your tires are nearly new, which actually adds value. They are not looking at your service history or noticing that the interior is in exceptional shape for the mileage.

An in-person appraisal fills in everything the algorithm cannot.

What I Actually Look at During an Appraisal

When I come out to look at your vehicle, I am going through a real checklist. Not a rushed, five-minute glance. A thorough inspection.

Here is what I pay attention to:

Exterior condition. Paint, body panels, glass, lights. I am checking for rust, significant scratches, dents, and signs of prior bodywork or repainting. Repainted panels can sometimes suggest a prior accident that did not show up on a vehicle history report.

Interior condition. Seats, carpet, headliner, dashboard. A clean interior in good shape makes a real difference in what a car is worth.

Mechanical condition. How does it start? How does it idle? I am listening for anything that sounds off. I check fluids and look under the hood.

Mileage. This one is obvious, but it is not the only factor. A high-mileage truck that has been well maintained is often worth more than a lower-mileage one that has been neglected.

Trim level and features. Not all versions of the same model are equal. A higher trim with heated seats, a sunroof, or a towing package is worth more than the base model. I check the trim carefully.

Vehicle history. I run a Carfax report as part of my process. Accident history, title issues, and number of previous owners all factor into value.

One Thing I Always Tell Sellers

Be upfront with me. Seriously.

If your car has had an accident, or if there is a mechanical issue you know about, tell me before I get there. Not because I will refuse to buy it, but because hiding it never helps anyone. I will find it during the inspection, and it is a lot more awkward to have that conversation after the fact.

I have bought cars in rough shape. I have bought trucks with high mileage, vans with cosmetic damage, and vehicles with issues that needed disclosure. Honest sellers make the process faster and easier for everyone.

Same-Day Appraisals Are Available

I know Sarasota summers are busy. Schedules fill up fast. That is why I keep same-day appraisal appointments available as often as I can.

If you wake up on a Tuesday and decide today is the day you want to know what your car is worth, reach out. There is a good chance we can make it happen that same afternoon.

I serve all of Sarasota and the surrounding area, including Lakewood Ranch. Location within the area is not usually an issue. Schedule your free appraisal here and we will find a time.

There Is No Pressure to Sell

I want to be clear about this. A free appraisal from me is not a sales pitch in disguise. I will look at your car, tell you what I think it is worth, and make you an offer. If you want to think it over, that is fine. If you want to compare it to another offer, I understand.

My goal is to be the most straightforward buyer you have ever dealt with. If I earn your trust, great. If my number is not right for you, I would rather you know that than pressure you into something that does not feel right.

That is the kind of business I want to run here in Sarasota. Come find out what your car is actually worth.
